#NZV16 Day 33

We had a break in picking last night, resulting in no trucks to deal with until this afternoon. So Felix and I got to hang out in Pinot Land this morning where we assisted with plunging caps and taking juice samples to the lab. The colours of the wines are remarkably vivid and the ferments smell great.

Hand plunging has a romance about it as you get to physically connect with the wine and it’s amazing how different each tank is in terms of cap depth, colour, aroma and nature. The difference in quality is also remarkable between Wither Hills own brand Pinot Noir and the grapes that get put into cheap and cheerful wine. I’ll grab some pics to demonstrate this difference early next week.
