Sauvignon Blanc madness begins, tank temperature calibrations continue, getting to play with bentonite (not a phrase I thought I would ever write) and chilling upside-down with wine – all in a #NZV16 days’ work.


#NZV16 Day 21


I’m finally on the beer fines board!!! All it took was bursting a hose and I can’t take all the credit, with my fellow white receival buddy Viktor and supervisor Anne, also assisting in the minor disaster. So that’s 3 beers on the board so far and I’m sure there are many more to come (hopefully not too many though or it might be a shorter vintage than expected…)

I went roaming around in Pinot Land today to introduce you to a fancy piece of machinery, the Bucher Vaslin Delta Vistalys which is an optical sorting machine. Fancy.



#NZV16 Day 20

It’s been a 4 day weekend!!! Which means there was time for LOTS of wine tasting, golf, lolly cake sampling, sunshine goodness, swims and strolls.


#NZV16 Day 14


We’re two weeks into #NZV16 at Wither Hills Winery and today I finally had a few moments where everything started to make sense. Although this was after I cleaned out the wrong tank. Hey it was 6am….

We received our first Sauvignon Blanc today, as well as Pinot Noir for red wine and there’s a great flow in our department when everything starts to happen at once. Receival bins banging, pumps whirling, presses pressing, dry ice smoking. And with all of these processes taking place sometimes you have to go to the other end of the whole process and sample some delicious wine.

So that’s exactly what I did. Post work I hopped on my reliable ride (Mum’s bike) and cruised down to Fromm Winery to sample what I believe to be some of the most delicious wine in Marlborough.
